Enterprise Zone Tax Incentives Tax exemptions The local government in which the business is located. Only those businesses that are qualified by financial responsibility and business experience to create and preserve employment opportunities in the zone and to improve the economic climate of the political subdivision (s) may apply for the tax incentives available. Furthermore, only businesses engaged in manufacturing, distribution, office, research and development would be considered eligible to apply for tax incentives.An annual processing fee equal to ¾ of one percent of annual tax savings will be paid to the Center. This fee shall not be less than $250 nor more than $1500. Failure to comply with the Enterprise Zone Agreement may result in the loss of incentives granted. Qualifications/Eligible projects: Total project cost excluding cost of land must exceed $100,000. Money can be used to (1) set up a new facility at a location where the business had not previously operated; (2) to make expenditures to add land, buildings, machinery, or equipment, as further defined by these guidelines to a facility that equals at least 10% of the market value of the facility prior to such expenditures. (3) Make expenditures to alter or repair a facility that equal at least 50% of the market value of the facility prior to such expenditures. (4) Make expenditures to alter or repair a facility vacant for at least 90 days equal to at least 20% of the market value of the facility prior to such expenditures, as determined for the purpose of local property taxation.
